Gary Foster, Ph.D., is the director for the Center for Obesity Research and Education and a professor at the Temple University School of Medicine. He has a doctorate in psychology from Temple and has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles and two books on the treatment and causes of obesity. As a clinician, he has worked with thousands of people over the years, helping them to lead healthier lives.

"People think losing weight is all about willpower. It's not. It is also not about a moral issue. You have not been bad. You do not need to punish yourself with a life of white-knuckled deprivation."
